Driving Lessons with Claire
We carry out our Category B Manual and Automatic driving lessons in a dual control Volkswagen Polo Edition 75 with 1.0 TSI and 95HP.
How will my first lesson work?
Claire usually meets learner drivers in a location that suits both parties, and takes it from there. Some schools offer 2 hours for the first lesson but we don't recommend that, its already a lot to take in on the first day so starting slow will benefit you in the long run.
Throughout the learning process, Claire provides regular feedback on progress and works through any areas where extra support or confidence is needed. As the driving test approaches, learners are encouraged to increase their driving practice and book a few additional lessons, helping to fine-tune skills and feel fully prepared for test day.

Advanced Driving Lessons
This involves driving competently through a variety of different road conditions including Motorways and dual carriageways, this will increase your driving skills and confidence on the road.

Why should you book with an RSA certified driving instructor?
- Legal Standing & Safety: All ADIs are vetted by Gardaí, hold a full driving licence for at least two years in their category, and are tax-compliant.
- Quality Assurance: ADIs must pass a three-stage qualifying process (theory test, driving test, and instructional ability test) set by the RSA.
- Standardized Training: ADIs follow the structured Essential Driver Training (EDT) or Initial Basic Training (IBT) curriculum, ensuring comprehensive learning.
- Accountability: ADIs are regulated by the RSA, providing peace of mind regarding the safety and accuracy of the lessons.
- Required Documentation: An ADI will provide a logbook and use the MyEDT portal to record progress.
Essential Driver Training (EDT)
EDT Diving Lessons is a mandatory training course (i.e. 12 lessons) that teaches fundamental driving skills to learner car drivers. It is part of the RSA's Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) scheme and is intended to improve road safety.
Why do I need EDT?
The purpose of EDT is to save lives. Getting a driving licence is a privilege, not a right. As a learner driver you are exposed to greater risks when using the roads due to inexperience. Maximising your road safety knowledge and behaviours helps you to develop the skills and confidence needed to share the road safely with others. By completing EDT you will build a strong foundation on which to become a better and safer driver.
What does EDT involve?
EDT is a course of 12 one-hour lessons or 6 two hour lessons. You may be eligible for reduced EDT if you meet certain criteria, for example a full driving licence from another country. Check your eligibility here.
Do Lessons 1-8 in order. By then, you will have built up skills and experience so Lessons 9-12 can be taken in any order.
