School Road Safety Workshops

Led by Claire McEneaney, RSA Approved Driving Instructor and road safety advocate, these workshops are designed specifically for Transition Year, 5th and 6th Year students. The aim is simple but vital: to give young people a road safety experience that is engaging, memorable, and genuinely life-changing.

Young road users are among the most at-risk on Irish roads. These interactive two-hour sessions focus on education, awareness, and personal responsibility — empowering students to understand how one decision can change a life forever.

Students take part in real-world discussions and activities covering:

  • Drink and drug driving

  • Speeding

  • Distracted driving (mobile phones, peer pressure)

  • Seatbelt safety

Using tools such as beer and drug-impairment goggles and powerful real-life stories from families affected by fatal collisions, students are encouraged to think critically about their role on the road — whether as drivers, passengers, cyclists, or pedestrians.

The goal is to ensure every student leaves understanding that their life matters, and that road safety is about far more than just passing a driving test.
